Today's topic of the public lecture series of the National Library of Armenia was journalism. Journalist, and media expert Mark Grigoryan, presenting his rich experience in journalism, spoke about the transition process from the Soviet press system to a multi-content international press. In particular, referring to the examples of leading British newspapers: The Guardian, The Sun, The Times, The Telegraph, and The Independent, he presented their content policy, journalistic culture and peculiarities.
During the lecture, the widespread use of the pyramid structure in the Soviet press, which had long been considered an accepted way of structuring journalistic material, was discussed. Mark Grigoryan pointed out that this model has been partially preserved in certain circles, but the responsibilities of modern journalism have greatly changed.
In addition to methodological issues, the speaker talked about interesting episodes from his experience. He began his professional activity in 1993 as deputy editor of the newspaper "Svoboda." In 1995-1996, he worked at AIM (Armenian International Magazine). Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous media agencies in Armenia and abroad.
