The four-day professional training course for school librarians organized by the National Library of Armenia has ended. Librarians from 17 secondary schools in Yerevan participated in the training program. As the main library, bibliographic and methodological center of Armenia, the National Library attaches importance to the continuous professional development of library specialists, considering it an important prerequisite for the effectiveness of the educational system and the modernization of library services.The goal of the school librarian training program that was put in place for this purpose was to introduce contemporary library technologies and working methods in school libraries, as well as to modernize professional knowledge and experience exchange.

Today, the school library is one of the important links in the educational process, which contributes to the formation of a reading culture among students, the development of information and media literacy, and the strengthening of independent learning and research skills. The effective implementation of this mission is largely determined by the professional training of the librarian, therefore, his continuous training is one of the important components of improving the quality of education.

The participants learned about the function of the school library in the general education system, the fundamentals of creating and maintaining library collections, the characteristics of catalog compilation and classification, the structure of electronic library services, the potential applications of digital literacy and information technologies, successful strategies for encouraging reading, the fundamentals of event planning, and contemporary approaches to media literacy.

One of the important components of the course was the presentation of the automation program specially developed for school libraries, the application of which will enable not only the circulation of textbooks, but also the electronic registration of book collections, reader service and data management. The National Library of Armenia's seasoned experts led the classes, fusing academic understanding with real-world experience to provide a productive forum for professional conversations and experience sharing. Librarians received certificates of participation upon completion of the training session. The National Library of Armenia will persistently carry out professional training programs, supporting the growth of school libraries, enhancing the professional potential of librarians, and creating a contemporary, productive, and library-like environment in the general education system.
