In 2024, we celebrate the 105th anniversary of the National Library Collection (NLC). In 1919, the founders of the first republic legally established the need to found a National Library. The National Library of Armenia receives and preserves the printed heritage of our country for future generations.
In the 21st century, publishing houses and printing houses produce numerous electronic publications that store information along with printed materials. Moreover, many books and magazines currently exist only in virtual format. In many countries, the provision and storage of non-paper, digital, and virtual publications is already regulated by law.
To jointly discuss the mentioned problems, the National Library of Armenia, within the framework of the National Library Week, organized a round table with the participation of publishers on April 19. Experts presented their views and outlined key problems in digital technologies. The National Library intends to continue consultations with publishers and relevant institutions to resolve these issues.
