Armenia-Hungary cultural ties at the National Library An event dedicated to strengthening friendly and cultural ties between Armenia and Hungary was held in the Great Hall of the National Library of Armenia. During the event, Anahit Simonyan, an employee of the RA Foreign Ministry and President of the “Armenia-Hungary” Friendship and Cultural Cooperation Society, was awarded the “Hungarian Bronze Cross of Honor” medal by the Hungarian government in recognition of her contributions to the development of bilateral cooperation. The award was presented by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary, H.E. Mrs. Anna Maria Szikó. Artsvi Bakhchinyan, an Armenologist and historian in-person, and Balint Kovács, a Hungarian specialist in Armenian Studies and the head of the Department of Armenian Studies at Budapest's Pázmány Péter Catholic University, joined via video call from Hungary to deliver greeting remarks.
Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, emphasizing the importance of Armenian-Hungarian literary and cultural ties, spoke about the process of cooperation and the programs already implemented.A collection of Hungarian literature has been created in the National Library of Armenia's collection catalog, which allows readers and researchers to gain a complete understanding of the Hungarian literature available in the library with a single click. https://is.gd/Ot9WSB
Members of the Armenian-Hungarian Friendship Group of the RA National Assembly and representatives of state departments were present. The concert part was filled with high art: pianist, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Nersisyan, laureate of international competitions Izabela Marutyan, student of the Tchaikovsky Music School Edgar Mkhitaryan, and students of the Artashat Aesthetic Center performed Armenian and Hungarian folk dances. An exhibition of literature, albums, and press was opened in the small exhibition hall of the library. It includes Armenian translations of Hungarian literature, Hungarian translations of Armenian literature, and Armenian studies books and periodicals published in Hungary.
