The National Library has once again been replenished with a valuable publication on #Armenology. Boris Adjemian's latest exclusive work, "The Library and the Survivor" (La Bibliothèque et le survivant), is already in the National Library's Armenian studies collection. Director of the Noubarian Library in Paris, historian Boris Adjemian, who has been studying the history and cultural heritage of the Armenian Diaspora for years, as a symbol of respect and scientific and educational cooperation, is donating valuable works on Armenian studies to the library for the second time.

"La Bibliothèque et le survivant" was published by "Éditions Anamosa" in 2025. The included images are mainly taken from the collection of the Noubarian Library in Paris ▪Photographers: Abel Minassian, Harouti Bezdjian, Martin Argyroglo ▪Design: Helmo ▪Illustration: Magali Cazalis ▪Maps and infographics: Aurélia Boissière ▪Editor: Marie-Pierre Lajoie 📖 The work stands out for its unique structure, combining the story of two fates: ▪ Aram Antonian, a survivor of the Armenian Genocide, a recorder of history and a bearer of memory ▪ The Noubarian Library, a cultural institution in Paris that has become the guardian of Armenian historical memory. The book describes how Aram Antonian personally preserved priceless books and documents while they were in danger, guaranteeing their survival. The key themes of the book are: the documentation of the Armenian Genocide, cultural memory and finally, the historical and symbolic role of libraries in this matter.

Let us recall that in 2024, Boris Adjemian also donated another important work of his to the National Library, the book “The Brass Band of the King: Armenians in Ethiopia”, which tells the story of forty orphans who survived the Armenian Genocide and their bandleader, Kevork Nalbandian, who were invited from Jerusalem by the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie in 1924 to form a trumpet band. Nalbandian later became the author of the Ethiopian national anthem and one of the key cultural figures of the Armenian community. ☑These donations are important evidence of the partnership between scientific and cultural institutions in Armenia and the Diaspora.
