Higher library education in Armenia began in the 1950s, first at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University. Then in 1969-70s at the Armenian State Pedagogical University. Hayk Davtyan, who turns 105 today, is one of the beneficiaries of library education.
On this occasion, within the framework of National Library Week, the National Library of Armenia organized a meeting dedicated to the merits of the famous bibliographer, scribe, and translator. The bibliographic heritage of Hayk Davtyan was presented by the head of the rare literature department Alisa Adamyan.
Davtyan’s former students Nerses Hayrapetyan and Aida Adamyan gave a speech. An exhibition of books, translations, and articles by Hayk Davtyan opened in the reading room of the rare literature department.
