The most sought-after book in public libraries in November is British author Alex Michaelides' psychological thriller "The Silent Patient." It is a story of murder discovery, combined with an analysis of various episodes in the characters' lives, and a shocking conclusion that leaves the reader stunned. Ashot Aghababyan's "Black Panther," Rafael Margaryan's "Wait for Me in Heaven," and Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Pray, Love" round out the top ten.
In addition to school and university academic assignments, books by Ashot Aghababyan, Ruben Yesayan, Grigor Keshishyan, Narine Abgaryan, Elif Shafak, Haruki Murakami, Khaled Hosseini, Mike Omer, and George Orwell are among the most sought-after authors in libraries this month.
According to statistical data on service in regional libraries, the further they are from the capital Yerevan (Tavush, Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik), the higher the circulation of literature they have. The gender composition of readers also has a great influence on the reading picture. About two-thirds of public library users are female. One could argue that women and girls largely shape the reading landscape of libraries.
