There are many famous writers in Armenian and world literature who used to work in the medical sphere. Russian authors Anton Chekhov and Mikhail Bulgakov, English authors Arthur Conan Doyle and Somerset Maugham, French author Francois Rabelais, American author of Afghan origin Khaled Hosseini, and many others were doctors by their profession.

On November 16, the poet, literary critic, and scholar of Armenian diaspora Arthur Andranikyan lectured on The Psychological Influence of Medicine in Literature at the National Library of Armenia. The speaker mentioned Armenian writers — Tserents, Nahapet Rusinyan, Ruben Sevak, Shavarsh Narduni, Hrach Zardaryan, Zhirayr-Vahe Maljian, Igna Saryaslan and Vardges Davtyan. Their literary works demonstrate a special medical point of view, leaving a unique psychological trace behind.

At the end, the lecturer presented the guests with a collection of works by the American-Armenian writer Vardges Davtyan. Also, at the end of the event, Advisor to the Director of the National Library of Armenia Nerses Hayrapetyan presented Arthur Andranikyan with the recently published book Yeghishe Charents.
