“Our literary language trumpeted with new freshness and charm unfolded and shone in his poems, and simple words familiar to all of us acquired new colors and shades.” The work of the poet Razmik Davoyan was presented in a new way within a public lecture by art historian and literary critic Yervand Ter-Khachatryan at the exhibition Razmik Davoyan. An Hour of Poetry.

The speaker touched upon the poetic art of “the last great poet of the Armenian language” Davoyan, his poetics, the origins of his work, the impressive expressiveness of poetic speech, emotional love lyrics, etc. “When I read his poem Tramp Passengers in the Voice of the Fatherland, I was amazed. There was poetry in absolutely everything: beauty, speech, humanity, dramatic depth, artistry, inner musicality, the purest presentation of Armenian speech” — admitted Yervand Ter-Khachatryan.

Presenting the creative path of Razmik Davoyan, the speaker drew many analogies with the work of European writers and artists. Yervand Ter-Khachatryan emphasized that Davoyan was deeply connected with the great tradition of Armenian classical poetry and at the same time was a representative of his poetic era.

The lecturer read wonderful poems one after another, enchanting poetry lovers who visited the Great Hall of the National Library with the magic of high poetic art. The hour of poetry passed like a minute. The audience left the hall, stunned by Davoyan’s magnificent poetry, full of inner beauty and strength, sincere musicality of the Armenian language, bright and sublime.
