A meeting with Lebanese-Armenian photographer and artist Hrayr Baze Khacheryan at the National Library of Armenia became a real journey into the world of Armenian khachkars. The renowned artist explained to the audience the essence of the Armenian khachkar, what it is, and how to “read” each khachkar. Khacheryan presented the famous khachkars of the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh, the territories of historical Armenia, as well as khachkars scattered around the world. He summarized biblical interpretations in stone, combining miniatures of Armenian handwritten books and photographs of khachkars. The meeting was organized on the occasion of publishing Hrayr Baze’s trilingual (Armenian, English, French) book “Khachkar” in 2024. The author's picture books from the National Library collection were introduced to the event attendees. The director of the National Library of Armenia, Anna Chulyan, emphasized that with the consent of Hrayr Khacheryan, digital versions of all his books will be made available.

Famous artists, historians, and archaeologists attended the meeting. Archaeologist, historian, and doctor of art history Hakob Simonyan highly appreciated the research work of Hrayr Baze. The public's introduction to the khachkar art, the original expression of Armenian cultural heritage, has been greatly aided by Hrayr Khacheryan and his contemporaries Zaven Sargsyan, Argam Ayvazyan, and Samvel Karapetyan.
