The film Wish It Was Sunday!, which is a wonderful conclusion to François Truffaut's film career, also completed the 2024 series of film screenings at the Cinema Club of the National Library of Armenia. The main characters of Truffaut's dynamic and exciting detective story were played by famous French actors Fanny Ardant and Jean-Louis Trintignant.
The director chose a black and white color palette for the film, reminiscent of classic films of the 1940s and 1950s, which gives the film a nostalgic and elegant atmosphere. In this film, Truffaut combined all his creative power: from genre experiments to the elegance of the plot structure.
For the third year in a row, the National Library of Armenia, in cooperation with the Filmadaran NGO for the Development of Cinema Culture, the National Library, and the French Embassy in Armenia/French Institute, has been hosting a film club that presents a selection of French films. The films are shown in French with Armenian and English subtitles.
