During the Media Literacy Week of Armenia, the National Library organized a “Course for Librarians” and a discussion meeting titled “Media and Media Literacy” conducted by Gegham Vardanyan, an expert of the Media Initiatives Center. The speaker presented to the employees of the National Library and several Yerevan libraries the importance of understanding, analyzing, competently and effectively using the media, in which librarians also play an important role.

Gegham Vardanyan emphasized that media literacy helps to understand information flows, avoid fake news and propaganda, and many other problems. He presented the website of the Media Initiatives Center https://media.am/ and the toolkit they have prepared, which will serve as a guide for media literacy work. Given the growing involvement of artificial intelligence in the media sphere, we should be more careful and literate on our social platforms. After all, today each of us is a media outlet. It is no coincidence that this year, from November 4 to 10, Media Literacy Week is being held in Armenia, organized jointly by the Media Initiatives Center and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Armenia under the title “Media Literacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”.
