On January 31, at the National Library of Armenia, the President of the Teryan Cultural Center NGO, Arushan Hakobyan, gave a public lecture dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Vahan Teryan's birth.

The speaker presented the life of Vahan Teryan from childhood to his years of study at the Lazarev Theological Seminary, from his first poetic attempts to the poetry of Hovhannes Tumanyan and Ava. Then, with Isahakyan's blessing, the collection Twilight was published, followed by the young poet's years in Tiflis, and his participation in the Vernatun discussions. Mr. Hakobyan embellished his speech with readings and analysis of Teryan's poems. He also touched upon the poet's socio-political activities until his last business trip, illness and death.

A book exhibition dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Vahan Teryan opened at the National Library. The exhibition presents the poet's works and separate collections, his translations, literary and philological studies about him, illustrated books, notes and photographs. The exhibition will last until February 7.
