On April 7, the Cine-Club’s regular screening dedicated to the famous French silent film director Germaine Dulac took place in the Great Hall of the National Library of Armenia. Germaine Dulac was a French filmmaker, film theorist, journalist and critic. During the evening, two of his most important films were presented: “The Smiling Madam Beudet” (1923) and “Invitation to a Journey” (1927), which took the audience into the delicate, symbolic and experimental world of the early period of cinema. A woman's inner world, her need for independence, and her struggle with social constraints are all revealed in Dulac's works, which stand out for their psychological depth and visual poetry.

The event was part of the "Cinema Changes the World: France 1895-2026" program, which highlights how cinema affects our perceptions, thoughts, and sense of reality by fusing significant achievements of contemporary cinema with masterpieces of French silent cinema.

The Cine Club, which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, continues to unite film lovers thanks to the cooperation of the French Institute/Embassy of France in Armenia, “Filmadaran” NGO and the National Library of Armenia.
