A wonderful public lecture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Armenian poet Zahrat was held in the small hall of the National Library of Armenia. The speaker, literary critic Yervand Ter-Khachatryan presented the life and work of Zahrat, and spoke about his literary heritage and important role in Armenian literature. According to the speaker, it is a real happiness that today we can remember the name of this exceptional person. According to him, it is difficult to find another author whose charming human character and literary works would be so harmoniously connected.
“Zahrat’s poem presupposes the reader’s participation. He is not an abstract poet, detached from life. The author sees wisdom in the simplest things, and poetry in ordinary reality. Zahrat opened up new possibilities in our literature,” says Yervand Ter-Khachatryan.
An exhibition of Zakhrat's works, books about him, and non-book publications has opened in the small exhibition hall. Follow the National Library's Facebook page to stay up to date with upcoming lectures and events.
