Languages Unite: European Day of Languages at the National Library of Armenia. Today, the European Day of Languages was celebrated in the inner courtyard of the National Library of Armenia, bringing together schoolchildren, university students, language enthusiasts, and representatives from diplomatic and educational-cultural circles. The event was organized through the initiative of the Goethe-Institut in Armenia and EUNIC Armenia (the European Union National Institutes for Culture cluster in Armenia), in cooperation with the National Library of Armenia.
Vassilis Maragos, the European Union Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, attended the opening of the event; he welcomed the attendees and spoke about the importance of dialogue between languages and cultures. In her welcoming remarks, Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, noted that the library was hosting the European Day of Languages event for the second time. "Celebrating the European Day of Languages at the National Library is symbolic, as the library houses literature in over 101 languages. Today, as we live in the era of artificial intelligence and almost any information can be found with a single click, the mission of libraries has become even more important."
"Libraries no longer compete based on the volume of information. Today, they remain among the most trusted institutions for preserving primary sources, cultural heritage, and knowledge," added Anna Chulyan. Throughout the day, guests participated in multilingual readings, crash courses in languages, quizzes, and interactive games. A special corner featuring games and literature was set up for children, while the musical program also celebrated European languages and cultures. The event also included a professional forum titled "Language Teaching Methodology: Challenges and Opportunities," featuring speakers from various European countries.
