On December 6, the National Library of Armenia hosted a literary matinee dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mkrtich Sargsyan, poet, prose writer, Honored Cultural Figure of the ASSR, laureate of the State Prize of the ASSR. 

The literary ceremony began with a film screening in which writer, literary scholar, doctor- professor Samvel Muradyan, editor-in-chief of the Armenian Encyclopedia publishing house Hovhannes Ayvazyan, librarian Rafik Ghazaryan, director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences, academician Ashot Melkonyan and others spoke about the writer’s path.

  Gayane Samvelyan read the works of Mkrtich Sargsyan. The speakers told memorable episodes from the life and work of the writer.  On the occasion of the anniversary, the library's large exhibition hall displays Mkrtich Sargsyan's personal belongings, photographs, books written, compiled, and edited by the writer, monographs dedicated to him, and translations of his books.

The writer's sons attended the event and thanked the National Library of Armenia for organizing the event. The director of the Armenia Publishing House donated about 100 books to the National Library for distribution to regional and public libraries of the republic.
