A book by candidate of philological sciences Hayk Ambartsumyan has been published — Bread and Wine. Codes of hunting, feasting, and nutrition in the epic Sasna Tsrer and in Armenian medieval literature. The book provides a comparative analysis of Armenian medieval literature and the poem Sasna Tsrer and presents: methods of obtaining food in the epics and literary heroes associated with them, describes the features of hunting, the menu of heroes, food preferences, method and time of food consuming
Attention is drawn to the everyday, ritual, and artistic significance of dishes and food cultural codes. The book was published with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the grant program “Support for Creators, Researchers and Translators”, coordinated by the Department of Literature Popularization of the National Library of Armenia.
