The National Libraries Week has started at the National Library of Armenia. Artur Avagyan, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, gave a public lecture on the topic “Yeghishe Charents and Art of Armenian Book”.  

 
The lecturer presented the creative period from 1928 to 1935, which included the most fruitful activity of Charents as the head of the art department of the Armenian State Publishing House. Avagyan noted Charents' collaboration with the older generation of artists of that time — Martiros Saryan and Hakob Kojoyan, as well as with his peers Tachat Khachvankyan and Mikael Arutchan. He also spoke on the rich publishing heritage of Charents which is distinguished by original book design and innovative publishing solutions.    
In the near future, the library is planning to organize more lectures on Armenian book art and publishing.
