Ten French-speaking students from V. Bryusov State University, the French University in Armenia, and Yerevan State University have joined the Armenian Goncourt Prize jury for the second consecutive year, actively contributing to the assessment and selection of modern French-language literature.
The Armenian Goncourt Prize is sponsored by the Embassy of France in Armenia, the French Institute, the French University in Armenia, and Newmeg Publishing House. This year's reading program kicked off in November. With much enthusiasm, the students started reading books written by eight modern French authors who were nominated for the esteemed French Goncourt Prize.
Like last year, this year the National Library of Armenia hosted the jury members for a discussion of the novel in the round hall. During the meeting, the students, accompanied by Salwa Nacouzi, Rector of the French University in Armenia, Anaida Gasparyan, lecturer at the same university, and Ani Janikyan, lecturer of French literature at the Yerevan State University, discussed Laurent Mauvignier's novel The Empty House (La Maison Vide), which, by the way, is this year's laureate of the French Goncourt Prize.
