The replenishment of the collections of the National Library of Armenia never stops. Recently, the library received a donation of 459 books from Dr. Rubina Pirumyan, a recognized literary scholar and author of many studies on the Armenian Genocide. The books are very diverse: fiction, literary criticism, linguistics, history, and other social sciences. The books were published in Armenia, Iran, Lebanon, the USA, and other countries.
Rubina Pirumyan studied at the Faculty of Engineering at Tehran State University. In 1978 she moved to the USA. She taught at the Department of Middle Eastern Languages at the University of California. Pirumyan is the author of many works devoted to the history of Armenian literature of the Diaspora. She studied the reflection of the Armenian Genocide in literature. Dr. Pirumyan is the author of the book The Armenian Genocide, 1915-1923. A Guide for Students and Teachers (1988), a textbook for California public school students. The National Library of Armenia collects, processes and preserves books published in Armenian and foreign languages, regardless of their place of publication. Publications from the personal library of the famous Armenian scholar will soon become available to library readers.
