"Cinema is something that can be filmed but never fully told" - these words best express the essence of Jacques Rivette's films.
Yesterday, the National Library hosted a screening of the film Merry-Go-Round by the great French director. The movie about the complex connections between art, love and creativity is unique in its deep psychologism and discusses the complex relationship between an artist and his muse. The film is about the creative process's intimate and sometimes painful nature.
The film also impressed with its verbose structure, where each frame emphasizes the philosophical depths of art and the search for identity. The 240-minute film is a psychological and philosophical journey, where each frame reveals the nuances hidden within art, love, passion and sacrifice.
The film Merry-Go-Round is an attempt to find an answer to the questions, what is art and who is an artist?. For the third year in a row, the National Library of Armenia, in cooperation with the Filmadaran NGO for the Development of Cinema Culture, the National Library, and the French Embassy in Armenia/French Institute, has been hosting a film club that presents a selection of French films. The films are shown in French with Armenian and English subtitles.
