"The Golden Helmet," one of Jacques Becker's greatest and most well-known films, was screened today at the National Library of Armenia's Cine Club. The movie is set in Paris in the early 1900s, during the Belle Époque, when the tragic tale of a love is intertwined with the city's "shadow world" and dim streets.
Marie (Simone Signoret), the primary heroine, is referred to as "Casque d'Or" because to her golden hair. She is connected to a gangster organization, but love blossoms between her and the brave and honest woodworker Georges Manda (Serge Reggiani). However, this love instantly causes internal conflict, envy, retaliation, and tragic confrontations between the criminal world and sensitive human emotions.
