Yesterday, a literary evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of literary scholar, Doctor of Philology Samvel Muradyan took place in the National Library of Armenia in an expectedly warm and sincere atmosphere. The event was attended by friends of the literary critic, writers, cultural figures, librarians and students.
Director of the National Library Anna Chulyan presented the hero of the day with one of the symbolic 105 silver badges issued on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the library. On behalf of the library, she congratulated Samvel Muradyan, a member of the Academic Council of the National Library, noting his long-term support for various library programs.
“If Samvel Muradyan had been born a thousand years ago, in the 10th century, I am sure he would have been one of the most outstanding orators of his time. If he had lived in the times of Sayat-Nova, he would certainly have been an ashugh. And in our time, naturally, his main occupation is teaching,” literary critic David Gasparyan said in his funeral speech.
Many speakers noted the human merits of Samvel Muradyan, his great contribution to the study of the literary heritage of Harutyun Surkhatyan, Yervand Otyan, Hovhannes Shiraz. All the speeches mentioned his phenomenal memory, thanks to which he even saved many literary pages from irretrievable loss and oblivion.
At the end of the event, the hero of the day gave a speech of gratitude, accompanying the speech with quotes from the works of Sayat-Nova, Otyan, Shiraz and other writers.
