Did you know that August 18th has been Bad Poetry Day since 2010?. This day is not meant to make fun of bad poetry, but rather to discuss poetry. Poetry has been with us for millennia, dating back to the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. It “uses the aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language” which is not usually considered in prose.

“Art, whether it is good or bad, helps your soul grow, for the love of all saints. Sing in the shower, dance to the radio, tell stories, write a poem to a friend, even a bad one. Do it as well as you can. You will reap a great reward. You have created something.” — Kurt Vonnegut.

In addition to creating something new, today we can read good poems that have already been created in the National Library of Armenia. Dear readers, please write in the comments your favorite poem or a poem that came to your mind.
