Nassim Nicholas Taleb is a Lebanese-American essayist, philosopher, scientist, and social activist whose work explores issues of chance, probability, and uncertainty.

Taleb is the author of Incerto, a five-volume philosophical essay on uncertainty published between 2001 and 2018. In 2009, the American Forbes magazine recognized Taleb as “the most influential guru in the field of management.” In 2011, he was included in Bloomberg's list of the 50 most influential people in the global financial sector. Taleb visited Armenia as a guest of honor and gave a public speech at the annual conference “Science and Business Days 2023”. On the day of the 105th-anniversary celebration, the National Library received as a gift from the Antares publishing house five books with Taleb’s autograph in the Armenian translation – Lost by Chance, Black Swan, When the Stake is Your Own Skin, Antifragile, and Procrustean Bed.
