The author of the book Massacres in Armenia is the famous Arab lawyer Faez Alghusein. He served as the governor of Kharberd province for three and a half years.

On the way to Erzurum, he was arrested by the Turkish authorities without any reason and spent a month in the Diyarbakir prison. Having stayed in the city for 7 months, he witnessed the atrocities committed by the Turks against the Armenians expelled from Erzurum, Van, Bitlis, Kharberd and other places. In this book, the author later described in detail his testimonies about the inhumane treatment of the Armenians.

The book was first published in Arabic in 1916 in Mumbai (former Bombay), India. The book was later translated into various languages. The book is especially valuable because it presents eyewitness accounts.

As the author notes in the preface: “On the one hand, I could not silently watch the inhuman atrocities committed against the Armenians, and, for the sake of justice, I tried to present the truth. On the other hand, I was afraid that as a result, the Europeans would condemn the religion of Islam. However, at the end of the book, I mentioned that God will still guide us to the right path.”

In conclusion, the author also notes that "these atrocities committed by the Turks contradict the dogmas of Islam and left an indelible black mark on its history." The book was donated to the National Library of Armenia by Egyptian Armenian national and public figure Perch Terzyan.
