Publishing involves more than just releasing and selling books; it also consists in influencing reader preferences, serving as a cultural advisor, and promoting appropriate literary selection and perception. Libraries and book consultants play a significant role in this area. At the "Advising Publishers: Book News" meeting, Antares Media Holding's editor-in-chief, Arqmenik Nikoghosyan, discussed ongoing projects, recently released books, and the quirks of publishing. The editor highlighted, that books are typically published in series while outlining the Antares Publishing House's operations. He specifically brought up the Otargir series, which only contains the original's first translations. Literary works have been translated and published from 36 languages, and young, talented translators have frequently been given the task.
Regarding the "Nobel Prize Winners" series, he asserted with confidence that the author who wins the prize is translated into Armenian approximately six to seven months later. The publication of Mkrtich Armen's novel "Yerevan" is special as a great cultural achievement. This work, which has been ignored for a long time, is returning to the reader's desk with the attention and appreciation it deserves. The "Babylonian Library" series gives new life to authors who, due to various circumstances, have found themselves on the literary fringes. This series reveals the true gems of forgotten or neglected literature.
Works of literature that have been suppressed for years because of political, censorship, or ideological reasons are now available again thanks to the "Banned Books" series. The long-suppressed voices of authors are now being heard in Armenian. Arqmenik Nikoghosyan observed, "Today, the main buyer of books is young people," highlighting the significance of the younger generation in preserving literary culture and creating demand for new publications. The National Library and Yerevan Community librarians, students, and patrons attended the meeting. More in the video https://youtu.be/Ag4KBr-_gVw Photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjCgdV8
