Oct 16, 2024 News Book Map of Armenia
The August lists of the most widely read fiction books in public libraries of Armenia include 109 books by 67 authors.
The top three include “Chaos” by Alexander Shirvanzade, “The Madman” by Raffi and the famous detective novel “Death on the Nile” by Agatha Christie. The top ten included books by Vakhtang Ananyan, Sero Khanzadyan, Muratsan, Raffi and Vahan Totovents, which schoolchildren read during the summer holidays. It is no secret that at present the absolute majority of readers of public libraries are schoolchildren and students. Therefore, it is they who form the reading map.
Among the most popular books, there are two more authors (The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri and The Abode by Ashot Aghababyan), which made it into the top ten thanks to the preferences of Yerevan readers. In addition to long-time favorite writers, the August reading lists were replenished with new names (Elena Ferrante, Mike Omer, Fredrik Backman, Colin Hoover, Chris Ewen). Let's see what changes the library service statistics will show in September.
