There are seven Armenian (Raffy, Ashot Aghababyan, Alexander Shirvanzadeh, Stepan Zoryan, Muratsan, Axel Bakunts, Vahan Totovents) and two foreign (Alex Michaelidis, Dato Turashvili) writers in the top ten most frequently served fiction books of Armenian regional and city libraries in May.
The 2019 psychological thriller "The Silent Patient" by British Cypriot writer Alex Michaelidis. Since its release in February, it has reached number 2 on Amazon.com's best-selling fiction book list. The Armenian translation of the novel has been in the top ten of the most read books in libraries ever since it was published by Newmeg publishing house. "The Silent Patient" leads the May top ten with service data provided by more than 20 libraries participating in the list.
Raffu's "Samvel", Shirvanzade's "Chaos", Muratsan's "Gevorg Marzpetuni", Stepan Zoryan's "History of a Life", Vahan Totovents' "Life on the Old Roman Road" are among the top ten novels of libraries and have a steady reading demand.
Although none of Agatha Christie's novels made it into the top ten in the combined index, the detective queen's books continue to occupy high places in the top ten, mostly due to new translations. His earlier publications (Murder on the Orient Express, Murder on the Golf Course, The Endhouse Mystery, etc.) are now rarely found on library lists. In any case, Agatha Christie's novels and short stories continue to dominate dozens of regional libraries of Ararat and Armavir.
Favorite writer Erich Maria Remarque is also on the list of sought-after authors mainly with his latest translated novel "Heaven Has No Chosen Ones". Among modern Armenian authors, Ashot Aghababyan's novels "Hovaz 1" and "Hovaz 2" are currently in high demand, and his "Menak" was the most popular book in Gegharkunik regional library in May.
