The list of fiction books most requested at Armenian public libraries in June includes 72 authors. The June list is very similar to the May list. The top list is dominated by Armenian classic writers and school literature. The top five most popular fiction books include Raffi’s novel Madman, Gurgen Makharu’s autobiography Childhood and Youth, Vahan Totovents’ unique novel Life on the Old Roman Road, depicting the life of the provincial town of Khachatur, Abovyan’s historical novel The Wound of Armenia, and Derenik’s stories Demirchyan. Three foreign writers (Alex Michaelides, Jonathan Swift and Agatha Christie) round out the top ten.

In the first summer month, library readers preferred novels and stories by Vakhtang Ananyan, Agatha Christie, Erich Maria Remarque, Stepan Zoryan, Ruben Yesayan. As in previous months, books by Alex Michaelidis are in great demand, two of which, The Maidens and The Silent Patient are on the top lists of the regional libraries of Ararat and Gegharkunik.

Unexpectedly, Gulliver's Travels by the English writer, satirist, and public figure of the 18th century, Jonathan Swift, took a leading place in Yerevan libraries. Perhaps the reason for this is the summer holidays and the tourist mood...
