“In the eyes of the world, Armenians are the Don Quixote of all nations. A stateless nation, living a poor, restless life, has been translating Goethe and Shakespeare for centuries…”. The exceptional role and nuances of translating European literature were discussed in the small hall of the library at the next public lecture organized by the National Library, with the participation of art historian and literary scholar Euran Ter-Khachatryan.

Analyzing Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Dante's Divine Comedy and the works of Shakespeare, Boccaccio, Petrarch, Goethe, Galsworthy and many other writers, the speaker spoke in detail about Armenian-European translation relations.

The speech took place within the framework of the European Heritage Days, in parallel with which the exhibition "Armenian-European Literary and Translation Relations" will be held in the large exhibition hall of the National Library until the end of September.
