Deputy Director of the National Library of Armenia Haykanush Ghazaryan and Printing Museum guide Marta Mkrtchyan took part in the III International Conference “Memory Systems: Books and Reading in the Information Society”, held in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic). Specialists of the National Library made reports “New Trends in Popularization of Reading on the Example of the National Library of Armenia” and “Promotion of the Armenian Printed Heritage”.
Representatives from many countries took part in the conference. The program presented many relevant topics: “Publishing Digital and Cultural Heritage in Digital Age”, “Libraries and Promotion of Reading in Digital Age”, “Reading and Education in Digital Age”, “Memory Systems of Modern Digital Society”, “Literary and Cultural Heritage of Information Society”, “Promotion of Reading Among Children and Youth”. A discussion dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the outstanding writer Chingiz Aitmatov was also held within the framework of the section “Museum Affairs and Preservation of Cultural Values”.
Conference organizers: Russian Committee at UNESCO Program “Information for All”, Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS countries, National Museum of the History of the Russian Federation. Participation in the conference made it possible to exchange experience in the field of culture and present some working results of the National Library of Armenia aimed at preserving cultural memory.
