The National Library of Armenia hosted another screening of the Film Club — "The Green Ray" by Eric Rohmer. The masterpiece of one of the most unique directors of the French New Wave Eric Rohmer explores issues of identity and self-knowledge.
According to Garegin Zakoyan, president of the public organization for the development of film culture "Filmadaran", Rohmer is an extremely original director, he has his own unique style. The title of the film is associated with a rare natural phenomenon when the sun's rays can turn green in a few seconds at the last moment of sunset. At the end of the film, the main character Delphine tries to see the green beam, which symbolizes his desire to understand something deeper and more important in her life.
For the third year in a row, the National Library of Armenia, in cooperation with the Filmadaran Film Culture Development NGO, the National Library, and the Embassy of France in Armenia/French Institute, has been hosting a film club presenting a selection of French films. The films are shown in French with Armenian and English subtitles. The next screening of the film club is on September 30 at 19:00. Admission is free.
