Yesterday, a special film screening was held at the National Library of Armenia. This time, not a feature film, but a documentary was shown on the screen. Moviegoers gathered to watch the film "Faces, Villages" (2017) by the famous French director Agnès Varda, who received the Golden Eye award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Agnès Varda's film "Faces, Villages" is a sincere and unique journey. In the film, 88-year-old Agnès Varda (who died in 2019, two years after filming this film) and contemporary photographer JR travel through the French countryside, meeting different people and uniquely showing their daily lives. The film not only tells the stories of wonderful people but also reminds us of a simple and sincere life.
The Film Club of the National Library of Armenia has been operating for the third year in a row thanks to the cooperation of the Filmadaran NGO for the Development of Film Culture, the National Library, and the Embassy of France in Armenia/French Institute. The club presents a selection of French films for film lovers. The films are shown in French with Armenian and English subtitles.
