"The canvas must be born on its own. The hand must work by itself, everything must follow the inner impulse. When I paint, I try not to get in my own way." — Hrant Tadevosyan.

Recently, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia Hrant Tadevosyan (Tatos) donated his large-format picture book to the National Library of Armenia. The book brings together the artist’s works from different periods and on various themes. Since 1965, Hrant Tadevosyan has held around 40 solo exhibitions in Armenia, Russia, Argentina, Germany, France, Switzerland, the United States, and elsewhere.

“For me, as a painter, the color green — which is so difficult — Hrant applies to his canvases with enviable boldness, pure, immediately, without hesitation. And, of course, I am also captivated by his other colors — red, yellow, blue — which he uses with great success when creating his paintings. Without a doubt, Tatos is a renowned Armenian artist, with his own place among the Armenian painters who shape Armenian art.” — Hakob Hakobyan, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia.

With the artist’s warm inscription, his colorful album now has its place in the rich collections of the National Library of Armenia.
