Literary critic, journalist, and Doctor of Philology Vardan Devrikyan was born on May 18, 1964. Today the popular literary critic would have turned 60 years old. Vardan Devrikyan has been the National Library of Armenia's reader, friend and colleague for many years. The outstanding scientist was a member of the library's academic council. He edited the volumes of Armenian Book 1921-1930 compiled and published by the library. and Armenian Book 1931-1940, illustrated edition Treasures of the National Library of Armenia and other books.

Vardan Devrikyan, the son of writer and publicist Gevorg Devrikyan, is the author of more than 40 books and 60 scientific articles. He participated in the Artsakh War in 1994. In the same year, on May 28, he was awarded the Order of the Military Cross of the Republic of Armenia, second degree. Devrikyan worked in Matenadaran and was the editor-in-chief of the Lusavorich newspaper. For 16 years he worked as editor-in-chief of the Etchmiadzin magazine in Holy Etchmiadzin and head of the manuscript bureau. From December 2009 he was Deputy Director of the Manuk Abeghyan Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, and from May 2015 until his death on April 13, 2023, he served as Director of the Institute.
