On September 9 at 11:00 a.m., the opening ceremony of the new “Support Reading Room” will take place on the first floor of the administrative building of the “National Library of Armenia” SNCO.

The “Support Reading Room” was established in accordance with the will of Armenian-American librarian Tsitsan (Jia) Ayvazian as a special project for readers with disabilities at the National Library of Armenia. The establishment of the new reading room is an important step toward making library services more inclusive and accessible. It will enable people with mobility and physical limitations, people who are blind or have low vision, as well as individuals who experience difficulties reading printed materials—including those with dyslexia, hyperlexia, alexia, and other reading-related conditions—to access the facilities and literary resources of the National Library of Armenia in accessible formats tailored to their needs.

The reading room will be equipped with audiobooks, Braille publications and publications in other alternative formats, as well as modern technological solutions. These resources will contribute to making library services more accessible, comfortable, and effective for readers with special needs. The aim of the “Support Reading Room” is to create an environment where every reader, regardless of their physical abilities or reading-related characteristics, can freely access the library’s resources, as well as its educational and cultural opportunities.

The opening ceremony will be attended by people with disabilities, members of the family of Tsitsan (Jia) Ayvazian, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, as well as staff members and partners of the National Library of Armenia and invited guests. The opening of the “Support Reading Room” is of significant importance within the framework of the National Library of Armenia’s policy aimed at promoting inclusion, equal access, and the development of modern library services.

The National Library of Armenia continues to develop an environment and services that make the library accessible to all groups of society.
