The National Library of Armenia consistently enriches its periodicals collection, which helps to preserve and promote textual heritage in addition to the preservation and popularization of written heritage. Dr. Zaven Mserlian, a friend of the library and a historian and educator, recently sent the library priceless books and individual magazine issues that were missing from its holdings.

Zaven Mserlian earned a master's degree in history from the American University of Beirut. In addition to being a teacher, he was the director of the same college for many years. In 2003, he was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. He also was awarded the Movses Khorenatsi Medal and the “Mesrop Mashtots” Order by the Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.

Digitized and annotated copies of the donated materials will soon be available in the “Armenian Press” database. Dr. Zaven Mserlian's dedication and unwavering efforts to preserve national memory are greatly appreciated by the National Library of Armenia.
