Recently, the National Library of Armenia has received a gift from journalist Mark Grigoryan, an album entitled “Yerevan on Maps of the 17th–21st Centuries”, which was exhibited at the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture in 2024 as part of the exhibition of the same name in November-December. The authors of the book are Mark Grigoryan and Armine Sargsyan.
The exhibits are presented from the collections of the Museum of Architecture and the History Museum of Yerevan, as well as from collections provided by the Collage publishing house and the personal collections of Mark Grigoryan, Hayk Demoyan and Hayk Tamanyan. The National Library of Armenia also took an active part in the preparation of the exhibition, providing unique copies of maps from its collections. In particular, the 1932 Yerevan edition of Alexander Tamanyan.
The book shows the development of the city: from a small fortress to a large city with a million population - the capital of the Republic of Armenia. The trilingual (Armenian, English, Russian) album contains more than 40 unique maps, drawings, sketches, master plans for the development of the capital of Armenia, city guides, as well as photographs of historical Yerevan, made with high artistic and publishing skills. The sponsors of the publication of the album were the Yerevan Municipality and the Yerevan Brandy Factory "Ararat". Presenting the album, Mark Grigoryan warmly thanked the Director of the National Library Anna Chulyan for providing unique materials and assistance in organizing the exhibition.
