"Komitas: Vocal Works Transcribed for Piano" – a valuable contribution to Armenian musical heritage – has been donated to the National Library of Armenia by renowned French-Armenian pianist and conductor Alexandre Siranossian. The idea behind this collection, proposed by Alexandre Siranossian, is to make Komitas’ arranged songs accessible for piano, while remaining as faithful as possible to the original compositions. This principle was strictly adhered to throughout the creation of the collection.

“Our aim is to make a selection of 24 songs arranged by Komitas available to pianists – in various styles, either for solo voice or choir, with or without piano accompaniment – while keeping the original musical texture unchanged. Few are aware that some of Komitas’ published songs are actually combinations of several folk melodies, a method already used by composers of the preceding generation such as Khristafor Kara-Murza and Makar Yekmalyan...” – states the preface of the collection.
