Oct 07, 2025 News Book Map of Armenia
Those who follow the National Library of Armenia's monthly list of the top ten fiction books checked out from Armenia's regional and Yerevan public libraries will have noticed that the lists equally feature works written by Armenian authors and translated authors. June, though, is unique. In the June top ten, there are nine Armenian authors and one foreign author.
Ruben Yesayan's "13 km from the Tunnel," Muratsan's "Gevorg Marzpetuni," Nar-Dos's "Our District" stories, Vahan Totovents' novel "Life on the Old Roman Road," and Aksel Bakunts' stories are the top five most requested books. Novels by Raffi, Derenik Demirchyan, Gurgen Mahari, and Vakhtang Ananyan are also among the top ten. Elif Shafak's book, "10 Minutes 30 Seconds in This Strange World," is the only work written by a foreign author.
Information for the list was gathered from the National Library of Armenia, all ten regional libraries, Charles Aznavour Library, Shengavit Library No. 32, Yerevan Isahakyan City Central Library and its branches, Hrazdan, Vedi, Spitak, Stepanavan city, and community libraries.
The most popular genres in public libraries are undoubtedly fiction and educational books. According to our surveys, the most popular books are those that are recently published, have novel content, are printed in fonts that are easier for contemporary readers to read, and are incomparably more colorful and attractive.
