As part of the events marking the 107th anniversary of the National Library of Armenia attaining state status, the Library held its traditional ceremony honoring long-serving employees.

Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, presented certificates of appreciation to 32 staff members in recognition of their 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, and 50 years of dedicated service. Through their professionalism, commitment, and conscientious work, these employees have made a lasting contribution to the Library’s development and to the preservation of Armenia’s national cultural heritage. Each service milestone symbolizes years of experience, responsibility, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication to books and readers. The National Library highly values the loyalty, perseverance, and invaluable contributions of its employees, whose efforts continue to enrich the Library’s history and strengthen its mission.

Special recognition was given to two employees who have devoted half a century of their professional lives to the National Library of Armenia: Susanna Eloyan, a bookbinder in the Printed Materials Restoration Department, and Gayane Ohanyan, Chief Librarian of the Acquisitions Department. Their 50-year careers stand as exceptional examples of dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Library. The event also featured the presentation of an important initiative aimed at documenting the history of the National Library of Armenia. Since 2024, the Library has been carrying out a large-scale project to compile a comprehensive collection of historical documents related to its institutional history.

The project is led by journalist Mark Grigoryan, who, together with Evgenya Vardapetova of the Public Relations Department, is collecting, studying, and systematizing documents relating to the Library from 1919 onward. The research encompasses archival collections in Armenia as well as archives held by educational, cultural, and academic institutions abroad, with the goal of presenting the most complete documentary history of the National Library based on primary sources.

During the event, Mark Grigoryan presented the first findings of the research, highlighting documentary evidence of the establishment of the National Library of Armenia and its acquisition of state status in 1919–1920. The unique archival materials offered fresh insights into the Library’s formative years and underscored the historical significance of one of Armenia’s foremost cultural institutions.
