Ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China

On October 29, the National Library of Armenia hosted the opening of a book exhibition and a ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The event featured unique examples of Chinese books from the library's collection, illustrated books on Chinese art, artistic translations from Chinese, and digitized examples of ancient Chinese manuscripts from the Matenadaran collections.

The event was attended by Karen Avagyan (President of the Armenia-China Friendship Union), Chen Min (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Armenia), Anna Chulyan (Director of the National Library) and Isabella Muradyan (Director of the Chinese Center for Culture and Science). In her speech, the Director of the National Library Anna Chulyan spoke about rare examples of Chinese book publishing in the collections of the National Library of Armenia, in particular about books translated from Chinese into Armenian and from Armenian into Chinese in the 19th century, the Chinese edition of the epic "David of Sassoun", and touched upon the history of Armenian-Chinese library relations.

In the concert part of the event, a soloist of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Alexander Spendiaryan Ksenia Andreenko performed Aisha's dance from Aram Khachatryan's ballet "Gayane", and students of the Victoria Dance School-Studio presented number of Armenian and Chinese dances.
