The National Library of Armenia has been enriched with copies of books translated into Latvian, including Franz Werfel’s The Forty Days of Musa Dagh, Chris Bohjalian’s The Sandcastle Girls, Grigor Narekatsi’s Book of Lamentations, Grigi’s Jesus’s Cat, and Freedom (a collection of letters and screenplays by Sergei Parajanov).

The books were donated to the library by Narine Abaghyan-Shitsan, the director and authorized representative of SIA JĀNIS ROZE, Latvia’s largest and most renowned company and publishing house. In a card addressed to Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library, she expressed hope that these books would be a worthy and valuable addition to the library’s collection and that readers would appreciate them accordingly.

At the beginning of autumn, Narine Abaghyan-Shitsan visited the National Library. During the meeting with Anna Chulyan, future cooperation programs were discussed. The donation of books marks the beginning of this collaboration.
