#National_Spring at Epigraph 📰 “Garun” is an independent literary, artistic, and socio-political magazine that has been published in Yerevan since 1967. It has brought together renowned and emerging Armenian writers, publishing their works, while consistently addressing and highlighting social, economic, moral, scientific, and educational issues through essays, articles, and interviews. For decades, “Garun” has had a significant impact on the development of Armenian art—especially literature—shaping new ways of thinking and artistic taste. On April 8, at the Epigraph bookstore, in collaboration with the National Library of Armenia, an exhibition of “Garun” magazine covers was opened, showcasing the unique artistic solutions developed over the years and designs that reflect the spirit of their time.

The event was attended by members of the “Garun” circle—Meruzhan Ter-Ghulanyan, Karine Khodikyan, Marine Harutyunyan, Hayk Hambardzumyan, Tigran Gaboyan, Husik Ara, Ashot Gabrielyan, Grigor Khachatryan, Arkmenik Nikoghosyan—who spoke about their entry into “Garun,” their first articles, and their work, sharing personal stories and warm memories. Participants of the meeting who have already used the NLA digital databases and browsed the pages of “Garun” highly appreciated the quality and accessibility of the work done. While in the past getting acquainted with the magazine’s issues required time and physical presence, today they are accessible to everyone with just a few clicks. Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, speaking about the completed work, emphasized that it has already become a tradition to present readers with a gift on the anniversaries of newspapers and magazines—digitizing and cataloging all issues of the given publication. According to her, this is both an important mission and a great honor and responsibility.

It should be noted that the National Library of Armenia presented its significant gift to “Garun” on the occasion of the magazine’s 55th anniversary by fully digitizing and making all issues from 1967–2018 available online.
