The cinema's amazing voyage has begun. The "Cinema Changes the World: France 1895-2026" program began today with a film screening at the National Library of Armenia. The introductory remarks were given by Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, who discussed the successful activities of the "Cinema Club," which has been in operation for five years. The published "French Cinema: Cinema Club" catalog, which details the club's activities and gives the audience the essential details about the films that have already been played, was also presented by her during her lecture.
Fatma Kebe, representative of the French Embassy in Armenia and the French Institute in Armenia, also spoke about the success of the project, emphasizing the importance of the cultural cooperation formed around cinema.
In 2026, the Cine-Club presents the program “Cinema Changes the World: France 1895-2026”, within the framework of which the masterpieces of French silent cinema and the important achievements of modern French directors enter into dialogue. From the viewpoint of artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, the same themes—politics and aesthetics—make it evident how cinema shapes reality and shapes their perception. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Cine-Club, a collaborative effort of the National Library of Armenia, Filmadaran NGO, and the Institut Française d'Arménie, the French Embassy in Armenia.
