Every year on May 18, International Museum Day is observed. This year's theme, "Museums Uniting a Divided World," emphasizes the vital role that museums play as forums for intercultural communication, understanding, and the transmission and preservation of universal values. This initiative, which was born in Europe and has now become an international cultural platform, provides an opportunity to present in a new format the unique mission of museums: that museums are one of the spiritual pillars of our society, the monuments of knowledge, memory and identity.
Today, on International Museum Day, the event titled “Music Unites People Like Books” was held at The Museum of Printing of the National Library of Armenia. Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) demonstrated with their musical performances that music can unite a divided world and become an important bridge for inclusion, just like books.
Small musical etudes, pieces by Komitas and Ruben Hakhverdyan, and a stunning dance performance featuring an Armenian letter A bird costume were all performed. Zemfira Yeganyan, a special educator, initiated the inclusive project.
