Rafik Ghazaryan, a distinguished librarian, bibliographer, Vice President of the Armenian Library Association, and longtime Deputy Director of the National Library, celebrated his 80th birthday during National Library Week. Rafik Ghazaryan's many years of work and important contribution to the advancement of Armenian bibliography and librarianship were honored during the ceremony.
A literature display with over 80 publications by Rafik Ghazaryan from various years, including books and press articles, was unveiled in the library's vast exhibition hall as part of the festive celebration. The exhibition is scheduled to conclude on April 23.
He joined the National Library of Armenia in 1971 and served as its deputy director from 1995 till 2015. Rafik Ghazaryan has been the recipient of numerous awards and letters of gratitude, including the Hakob Meghapart Medal (2004), the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia (2004), and the Movses Khorenatsi Medal (2012), which are given by the Armenian president to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the development of Armenian culture. Representatives from several libraries in Yerevan also participated in the event.
