The National Library of Armenia, together with the Martiros Sarian House-Museum, hosted an event titled “Martiros Sarian: In Memory of the Master,” dedicated to the memory of the great Armenian painter Martiros Sarian. Books, albums, postcards honoring Martiros Sarian, publications in Armenian and other languages with illustrations by the Master, and several publications from the Martiros Sarian House-Museum stored in the library's collections were displayed in the National Library of Armenia's large exhibition hall as part of the event. During the event, the Martiros Sarian House-Museum donated numerous new publications from the house-museum, as well as an extensive collection of posters for exhibitions of the Master's works from various years, to the National Library of Armenia.
In her speech, the Director of the National Library of Armenia, Anna Chulyan, emphasized that the posters have a special cultural value, not only as information materials, but also as important evidence of the development of artistic thinking, communication and cultural life of different periods. At the same time, they are a valuable source for researchers to study art history, exhibition culture, and cultural memory. In light of this, the National Library of Armenia has started fully digitizing and popularizing both donated and its own collections of posters. The National Library of Armenia's official website will soon launch the "Martiros Saryan" digital collection as part of this initiative, which will provide non-book publications from the NLA collections honoring Martiros Saryan's legacy on a single platform.
The Director of the Martiros Saryan House-Museum Bella Isahakyan, the Collection's Head of the House-Museum Sofia Saryan, and the Head of the Exhibition Organization and Publicity Department of the House-Museum Ruzan Saryan, also gave welcome addresses in which they emphasized the value of collaboration among cultural organizations in the conservation, research, and promotion of the country's cultural legacy. The purpose of the event was to honor and promote Martiros Saryan's artistic legacy while reiterating the successful collaboration between the Martiros Saryan House-Museum and the National Library of Armenia.
